Seen and heard at K(NO)W, day 2: Because, blockchain

May 16, 2017

Day two of the K(NO)W Identity Conference featured a blistering, hilarious takedown of the Internet-ification of seemingly all-the-Things, as Consult Hyperion Director David Birch started the day with a largely satirical take on identity.

“Because, blockchain” was the keynote’s common refrain — a sarcastic, general response to the complex issues Birch believes will proliferate as apparently anything and everything becomes a connected device.

Nothing was safe — from pets to underpants to sex toys — as Birch’s dystopian vision for our future unfolded before conference attendees.

Birch’s keynote was the first of 22 talks and panels taking place on the second day of the K(NO)W Identity Conference on Tuesday, to be capped off by the presentation of the 2017 K(NO)W Nodes Awards. Things will wrap up Wednesday with the third and final day at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, D.C.
