2018 is the year of innovation in identity. Check out OWI’s latest white paper which highlights the major problems suffered by the identity industry and profiles the companies at the front lines of solving them with creative approaches to these pervasive challenges.

Among the report’s findings are the following observations:

  • Because around 40 percent of the world’s population doesn’t have a formal financial history, conventional credit bureaus don’t have a ready mechanism to assess a large market of currently excluded individuals.
  • Self-attestations and internally generated identity attributes have limited value for predicting future behavior
  • Over 3.5 billion people worldwide are underbanked or unbanked, due at least in part to the inability of banks to assess their credit riskiness.

“We are at a turning point in the global identity crisis. We now have the opportunity to bring identity to the dispossessed, bank the unbanked, and construct a more robust society,” said Travis Jarae, CEO of OWI. “While our global identity crisis has been decades and even centuries in the making, modern technology has paved a path forward by completely rethinking the concept of identity and how we verify and authenticate users.”
