Secure Identity Ledger Corporation opens ICO

The company is targeting a direct to consumer model with the initial coin offering, especially millennials. The ICO will run through Oct. 25, 2017. The company uses a private permissioned blockchain to provides digital ID system for consumers, including registration, authentication, verification and personal monitoring. ICO activity for identity has become increasingly more common with companies such as Sphre, Civic, Pillar and ChainLink offering ICOs. [Read more]

National Retail Federation and EuroCommerce ink partnership to implement EU data regulations

The National Retail Federation, the world’s largest retail trade association, and EuroCommerce, an EU based organizations representing the retail sector, have signed an agreement to collaborate on a unified retail industry approach to GDPR compliance. While GDPR imposes heavy penalty for companies who do not comply with the data protections, the regulation is in parts ambiguous in defining what ‘reasonable’ safeguards and security policies look like. Furthermore, there is no mechanism for “certification” of GDPR compliance. We expect additional sector level groups to establish industry best practices and frameworks for GDPR compliance. Ometria raises $6 million for customer marketing personalization

The Series A round was led by Sumit Action, Sonae IM, Samos Investments, Adjuvo with participation from existing investors and SaatchInvest and Force Over Mass Capital. Ometria has raised $11 million in total funding. Ometria’s platform creates a single customer view of customer data points to personalize marketing communications across all channels. In addition to the funding, the company announced the hiring of Julian Palmer as General Counsel and Data Protection Officer, to drive GDPR compliance. Online retailers and content providers are increasingly turning towards personalization tools to drive customer loyalty and compete against giants like Amazon and Netflix. [Read more]

Rubicon Labs and Toppan Printing partner for IoT security

The partnership will provide identity management solutions targeting enterprises in the Japanese automotive, industrial and consumer markets. Rubicon Labs provides secure identity solutions for IoT through its Secure Identity Platform, while Toppan Printing is a leading provider of smart card and secure solutions in Japan. Under the partnership, Toppan will sell its secure device device personalization services and devices utilizing Rubicon’s Secure Identity Platform. [Read more]
