Biometric identification and identity management provider Ipsidy on Tuesday announced a partnership with Skypatrol, which builds GPS tracking and fleet management software tools, in which the two companies will bring a new product called SkyGuru to Latin America.
SkyGuru will combine Ipsidy’s Transact digital assurance platform and mobile biometrics with Skypatrol’s GPS technology. Together, they will deliver integrated cost-control and expense management to trucking fleet operators and logistics companies throughout Latin America.
“Ipsidy is excited to launch our innovative Identity Transaction platform with Skypatrol,” Ipsidy Chairman and Chief Executive Philip Beck told OWI. “Skypatrol will offer the service in Latin America and the Caribbean where its customers of fleet operators and logistics operators and their end users operate in excess of 1 million vehicles. We believe this innovative fleet management solution will significantly improve operations by lowering costs and improving efficiencies for Skypatrol’s customer base.”
Based on Ipsidy’s Transact digital assurance platform, SkyGuru includes the Ipsidy Mobile Wallet, which is a virtual payment account. Drivers can download the Ipsidy Mobile Wallet application to their smartphone and then proceed to make purchases of fuel or other services at participating gas stations and other merchants.
Skypatrol, meanwhile, can specifically route driers to merchants where the mobile wallet is accepted via Ipsidy’s mobile point of sale application. Merchants can also authenticate the identity of a driver via Ipsidy’s facial biometric identity solution.
With the SkyGuru collaboration, fleets and their drivers will no longer need to pay for fuel or services with cash, vouchers, or their personal bank accounts or payment cards. The companies say the new system will reduce fraud and paperwork, while also simplifying cash management and allowing fleet operators to track and control use of resources.
“We are excited to launch this innovative mobile payment and identity solution, combined with our proven GPS-based services,” Skypatrol President and Chief Executive Robert Rubin said. “This is the next generation of fleet management software solutions and will allow our clients to significantly improve their operations by lowering costs and improving efficiencies. We are pleased to partner with Ipsidy and believe that the Skypatrol-Ipsidy SkyGuru solution will complement our existing solutions and provide our clients with a state-of-the-art, secure, easy to implement, business management tool.”
