As the digital identity space matures, it’s vital to have tools and tactics available to foster insights, growth and innovation. In that regard, today OWI has announced the launch of its Digital Identity Standards, Technology, and Innovation Lab (DISTIL).
DISTIL is a community of individuals focused on building better user experiences enabled by digital identity. The DISTIL community will convene through a series of initiatives built around collaboration, idea generation, insights, and funding. These groups, classes, and networking opportunities include our new Immersive Experience Lab, Startup Accelerator Program, Working Groups, and Roundtables.
“The vision of the new OWI is coming into focus, starting with the launch of DISTIL. This initiative represents years of planning and development,” said Travis Jarae, Chief Executive Officer of OWI, “with the support of our amazing partners, clients, and community, DISTIL will represent the epicenter for identity innovation. We’re excited for others to join as we lead this next chapter for our industry.”
Along with the launch of DISTIL, we’re excited to also announce that the first Startup Accelerator Program will meet, starting on April 5, 2021. This 12-week program will connect a hand-selected group of disruptive new startups with OWI Ventures, the early-stage venture capital firm focused on digital identity.
The companies selected for this inaugural class will receive funding through OWI Ventures. They also will gain entry to DISTIL’s Immersive Experience Lab, which provides them with access to a community of over 300 digital identity experts. With this, participating founders and entrepreneurs can connect with valued mentors in the space and access proprietary information. The goal for this connectivity? To accelerate the next wave of identity innovation.
As we all have such an opportunity ahead of us, this meeting of the minds, experience, and resources will help drive development. We can’t wait to see what comes from such unique collaboration across the sector.
While applications for the Startup Accelerator Program will open in the coming weeks, it’s important to note that this is only the beginning of the full breadth of what DISTIL will offer the growing community. In the weeks and months to come, we will provide more information on the Immersive Experience Lab, Working Groups, and Roundtables, which will ensure the smartest minds – including both new and seasoned veterans of the space – come together to offer insights and strategies, as the digital identity sector grows and matures.
Unique findings will surely result from these collaborations, ones that will only improve and empower this dynamic community.
